During this week (24-28 August), in biology class we started everything with the introductions and class rules explanation on Monday. On Tuesday, we watch a movie titled “Gattaca” that integrates with biology. The movie is a science fiction movie where DNA determines everything, mostly a person’s social class. This movie also has a connection in what we are going to learn in this term's biology, which is about DNA and how it defines a person's identity. On Thursday, in biology class we did pre-assessment about cells. I manage to rocked on the assessment, lol just kidding. I really forgot everything about cells that I learned during sixth grade. So I tried to use my logic to finish the test, but it seems like its still not good enough. By this, I have made myself a note that I should study about cells all over from the beginning since I completely forget about it and the only thing I remember is nucleus. On Friday, Ms. Disty did a powerpoint presentation about cell theory and types of cells. There are four scientist, Janssen, Hooke, Pasteur and Leewenhoek who each had their theory about cell. Robert Hook was the first who discover cells and made a theory that cells are hollow inside, that's why its named cell, which means cellula or empty. There are also two types of cell, prokaryote and eukaryote. Their difference is that eukaryote has nucleus and membrane bound organelle, while prokaryote doesn't. The DNA on a prokaryote also has a circle form, while in eukaryote it has a linear form. There are still some things that I need to learn about cells more detailed such as the organelles, their differences and their functions.
