During this week (31 August - 4 September), in biology class we started on Monday by learning further about cells and their organelle through Ms. Disty's explanation. I learned that prokaryotes evolve into eukaryote in order to became better and survive environmental changes. Prokaryotes also have flagella in order to help it move since its a single cell. Plant cells and animal cells are both eukaryote cells while protists are prokaryotes. The difference between plant cells and animal cells is that plant cell has cell wall, chloroplast, cytoskeleton and central vacuole while animal cells doesn't. But they both have vesicle, chromatin, cytoplasm, ER, golgi apparatus, lysosome, mitochondria, nucleus, nucleolus, plasma membrane, ribosomes and vacuole. Cells work just like the human body with the organelles as the organs with each of their different functions and the nucleus as the brain. We are also divided into our groups that day, and I'm lucky to be with the diligent kids (yay!). The disease that I choose as a topic for the project is MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome). On Tuesday, in biology class we did our cell analogy worksheet and make analogy of how cell work with other thing. My group decided to do the analogy of how cells work with the system of business and the actors of business as the organelles. On Friday, in biology class we learn more deeper about cell membrane. I learned that cell membrane is the boundary between inside and outside of the cell and that it is also made of oil in order to contain what's inside of it. Materials goes in and out of cell membrane, going in through door called protein channels. Osmosis in cell happens when the molecules move from high concentration to low concentration place, there are simple, facilitated and active transport. Simple transport does not need channels, facilitated need channels and active transport needs ATP energy. So far, there's nothing I don't really understand about, but I maybe should learn more about cell membrane diffusion.
